Winter Storm

I promise there was more yesterday

So yesterday, for about half the day, it snowed really really hard outside.  We where supposed to have gotten something like a foot of snow, and yesterday it looked like we came close to that mark, today you can see that the snow itself has managed to settle down to something that looks closer to two inches.  Sadly that is not very impress to take a picture of and kind of makes me feel really lazy for not going out and taking a picture yesterday.

The entire point of this, though, was that I wanted to talk about being trapped inside of Grandmother’s house while it snowed like crazy.  While I can’t really link to a single memory that I have, and it would be entirely too easy to say that it was brought back memories of Christmas (because it didn’t), it was simply a familiar feeling of hanging out here while the world outside simply turned to white.  Who knows, maybe it was just that both Veronica and I had resigned ourselves that the world outside was going to have to wait due to the weather.  Whatever it was it was simply pleasant.

Also the ramp in front of the house is mostly gone, leaving just the stairs.  While this does make it more convenient for non-wheelchair bound people to get in and out of the house, I have to say that for some reason those stairs have a place in my heart.  Some kind of great fondness for simple stairs, I am really weird.

  1. your grandmother used to find great joy knowing she was stocked up ready to sit out the storm andwatch.

  2. Grammie and Pa used to sit on the front stairs and supervise the neighborhood. It is nice to see them almost back! I am suprised that you were able to catch a picture of the house without Dan there! Must have been very quick on the click!

  3. Half our time visiting Grandma was spent sitting on the front steps. I am fond of them too. Thanks for the picture. Dad is right, Grandma would always say she wanted to spend her retirenment watching other people go to work in bad weather. That is just what she did.
