It will kill us all
Many of you are away of Veronica’s love for all things that grow in the ground. Any of you that have been to our apartment are fully aware of this due to the massive amounts of plants that she has growing everywhere. While this sounds like good housekeeping and everything it has led to one massive, fear based, problem…
The plant in question started out not much bigger than a normal Irish Ivy or the like. It also wasn’t ever supposed to get bigger than that. Needless to say the plant has spawned leaves the size of dinner plates and bark on the outside of it (possibly to protect it from attack?). None of this is normal for something that is grown insides, maybe normal for the plant if it was grown in a jungle or something, but not in a small pot. The plant throws off air roots, probably because it has gotten so insanely big that it can’t manage to get anything close to the stuff it needs to live from the soil it is planted in, and the roots themselves have become such a problem that every couple of weeks one of us needs to move the plant to make sure it isn’t burrowing into the wall it is next to.
Having a plant that grows so fast there is a noticeable difference every day after a year is neat and all, but the thing that is a real concern for me is that I don’t think it is long before it starts to try to kill us in our sleep. The thing already figured that it wasn’t getting enough food in the soil and started leeching from the air, and several attempts from the wall around it, how long before it decides that blood would probably be the best thing for its ever growing needs?

This is a wonderful post as I read “World War Z”. Thanks alot. Now I will freak on the giant plant in my room that continues to grow even though I haven’t watered it in 6 monthes…
My favorite part of the post…Daniel tagging it with “killer, plant, veronica” I Win!
Ah, the elusive militant kudzu. Watch out for that…I think a plant like that ate my family’s last parakeet.
